Disable automatic transitions

With your project open, do one of the following:

• Add a transition to your project manually (by dragging a transition from the Transitions window to the project), and then click Turn Off Automatic Transitions in the dialog that appears. The transitions already in your project are retained.

• Choose File > Project Theme, and then deselect the checkbox for automatic transitions; the File menu appears in a light gray bar across the top of your computer screen.

  Choose one of the following:

  • Remove transitions (or transitions and titles) and extend clip ends: Removes all transitions from the project and slightly extends the ends of the clips that were adjacent to the transitions. This option lengthens the duration of your project a bit.

  • Remove transitions (or transitions and titles) and maintain clip durations: Removes all transitions from the project and slightly shortens the ends of the clips that were adjacent to the transitions. This option maintains the current duration of your project.

  • Leave transitions (or transitions and titles) in current locations: Retains all current transitions but adds no new ones as you add clips to the project.
